Ne-Yo and Cortex Tap Into
Green Light Open Mic Debuts at R&B Superstar's Talent Search
Edison, NJ - June 11, 2007: The Green Light Open Mic, sponsored by Cortex (a part of GCI Technologies), kicked off their community hip-hop project with a bang this past Saturday, June 2nd, during R&B sensation Ne-Yo's talent search held at the Sam Ash Music location in Atlanta, GA.
As hundreds of hopeful MC's and vocalists lined up to await their 2 minutes to impress the Platinum selling, Grammy nominated singer, who is looking for talent for his new Def Jam distributed record label, The Green Light was there to warm them up and tap into the motivated and enthusiastic crowd outside the music retailer. Using Cortex's revolutionary patent-pending HDC-3000 Digital Music Controller to cue up and mix fresh tracks, participants were invited to showcase their raw freestyles and MC battle skills, all while being captured by independent film production company Winnetka Films, who will be publishing a series of street DVD's and immediately posting highlight clips on MySpace (www.myspace.com/greenlightopenmic) and YouTube, with a view towards a documentary film release in 2008.

"The response to the Green Light (at the talent search) was fantastic," raves producer/manager Eric Peterson. "We have a solid offer to go to D.C. just to rock a 500 seat club!" Also in the works are appearances at the monthly Sam Ash and Georgia Public Radio fundraisers in

Destined to discover the next big thing, The Green Light Open Mic and Cortex will continue to tour select cities all summer long capturing Atlanta's young DJ's, beatmakers and new performing talents with open mic solos, duets and battles.
